Grew out of the old Monivea Fair. Ponies, horses, sheep, poultry, a sheepdog demonstration and vintage machinery.

The show field beside the national school in the middle of Monivea, a small planned estate village built around a long green in east Galway. It is flat grass right in the village, so the shops, the green and the community centre are all within a few minutes' walk of the rings.
